Gail Haynes, School
Nurse
Mrs. Haynes is a registered
nurse with over 13 years experience in school health. She has
been Ochwilla's nurse for the past 4 years.
One of the many hands-on programs our nurse, Mrs. Haynes, provides our
student body is called the "Bone
Zone". During the program the children are taught that
exercise, eating right,
and avoiding certain bad habits can lead to healthy bones, teeth, and
the
prevention of osteoporosis.
Another program offered by Mrs. Haynes is "Open
Airways
for Schools", a project of the American Lung Association to help
elementary
school children with asthma.
Every February Mrs. Haynes
presents a comprehensive Dental Health
program to the entire student
body through our news network. She also does a number of hands on
activities with our our PreK thru 1st grade students that include
video, audio, interactive handouts, and a larger than life model of
teeth that she uses to demonstrate the proper brushing technique.
